I have been racing expert level BMX since the age of 14. My race career began in New York, but then my family moved to the BMX capital of the world, Southern California. This was in the early 80`s when the BMX movement was in full bloom. I began rising through the ranks of the California` s competitive race scene. At the age of 18, I was faced with the choice of attending UCLA or turning BMX PRO. I decided to go to school and began to pursue a filmmaking career. Soon after, I started working as a screenwriter and director. I made my feature film directing debut with "Placebo Effect". This film went on to win four awards at film festivals and I started working as a writer and director on commercials and corporate videos. From there I moved on to become the Marketing Director for Hollywood’s most popular filmmaking tool, Final Draft software. I have been with the company for 14 years and I am now the Senior Director of Sales. Some years ago I was able to combine my marketing and racing skills to help my sponsor at the time, Soul Cycles, design and market my signature “Matador” 4X full suspension frame. I am currently a sponsored rider/ambassador for French company Ice Fast, builder of the ICE Element BMX and Mountain Bike frames and components. Racing again after 40 years! I had not been on a bmx track since 1982 (40 years)! Then, my friend Mark Darcy talked me into racing at the Frogtown vintage reunion race.. I had a great time racing there, then two weeks later Art Ornelas from Race Inc offered me a spot on the factory team for 2023 and set me up with a new Race Inc 24" Cruiser! After that, Mark and I Spent the day putting the bike together just about one week before the Silver Dollar Nationals, I was hoping Vegas wasnt my first race, but with the weather, thats exactly what happened! In the end, lack of time on the bike really proved problematic. I made small mistakes each day that kept me out of the mains, but Sunday I did make the semi.. with some trianing and time on the bike, I am hoping to be a differnt racer in the near future..

Hey all, my name is Mikey "Vegas" Villegas. I'm a 55 yr old BMX'er from the 80's getting back into the sport after 40 years. I used to race as a co sponsored rider for Hutch BMX and Houston Bike Center race team. I have been involved in the music industry as either a musician, manager, producer or mix engineer for the past 20+ years. BMX and freestyle has always been a passion of mine, but life has its way of getting in the way. I'm 55 now and in pretty decent shape so I thought I would give this passion inside another try. I look forward to meeting all the old schoolers as well as all the new school riders.
