2021 USA BMX Sooner Nationals
Iced out in T-Town
GMO - “Hey Bill! Is the the coldest national there’s ever been?”
Bill - “Nah, Oregon was colder one year. The high was about 5 below there.”
Luna chimes in “What about Detroit when we broke the bucket on the tractor?”
Bill - “That one was cold too, but not colder than Oregon”
For argument's sake, we’ll say that Sunday’s temp of 6˚ in Tulsa was the third coldest national ever. It was also the largest Sooner Nationals with 285 motos and if it weren’t for the weather this certainly would have been a 300+ moto national.
Dallas Gardner tries to keep his hands toasty back in staging.
This race always has great dirt as it’s the same dirt used for the grands and its always dry. When Thursday’s track walk went down the first thing people noticed, besides the long first turn, was the lack of a rhythm section. The third straight is usually home to this section but replaced by three sets of mid-sized doubles. If you love to jump, this was your favorite area of the track.
DK's Carly Kane is always has a smile, on or off the track.
SSquared's Henry Leners grabs a holeshot in 9x.

With the new USA BMX Headquarters being built just miles to the west, this will more than likely be the last Sooners held in the Ford truck Arena. We hear the weather is pretty nice in late Spring and early Fall. We can only prospect the future but 2022 may have this race at a different time of the season. Only time will tell.
