New to BMX??
How much does it cost?

- See the 'Membership' tab for more information.
What kind of bike do I need?
Your rider should start out on whichever bike they are comfortable riding. However, race bikes differ from those that you can purchase from your local department store and you will want to transition to one eventually. Loaner race bikes are available, free of charge, on a first come first serve basis.
If using a store bought bike, please be sure to remove:
- reflectors
- kickstand
- plastic chain guards and other plastic parts that could break easily
What do I wear?
- Long pants. Loose fitting short pants made of tear-resistant material are permitted when used in combination with knee/shin pads. All combinations of knee/shin pads are subject to the approval of the Sanction and/or Track Operator.
- A long-sleeved shirt. Short sleeved shirts and sufficient elbow protection is allowable subject to the approval of the Sanction and/or Track Operator.
- Close-toed shoes.
- Helmet
- Helmets must have a permanent strap, snaps are not allowed.
- Helmets must have sufficient padding and be of good quality.
- The Sanction highly recommends a full-face helmet or a helmet that covers the ears.
- A helmet shall not be modified to restrict the field of vision for the rider.
Don't have a helmet? That's ok. We've got you covered.
Lakes Area BMX has full-face, loaner helmets available to use, free of charge.
