This journey didn't just start last night but man did I celebrate! My move up from 5 Novice to Intermediate was late last year but I didnt' get to celebrate or get an award becuase of COVID. I achieved my move up at Bellflower BMX on a Friday night and then they had to close. I started to check out new tracks nearby that I'd never gone to before. The only reason we never went was just becauase we loved the Bellflower track and the others were 45 minutes to 2 hours away. Luckily we live in Southern California so we have options! Thanks to my mom, we went on several adventures to check out new tracks becuase she knew I loved BMX and she was determined to keep me riding. So off we went; Whittier Narrows BMX, Yucipa BMX, Grand Prix BMX, San Diego BMX. Every track is so differnt. Some are soooooooo long, some are super short, some are really really hard when you fall. But I always get back up. When I moved up I realized, dang, I better step up my game. There weren't a lot of 5 intermediates at tacks to race so I raced 6 Intermediates over and over again. One night there weren't even enough fives or sixes so there I was with the sevens!!! I could have been bummed about it had I known. My mom never tells me until after. She's tricky like that. Doesn't matter. I had fun and I'm always trying to beat my best. So all of that work I took 2nd in two races and beat those dang sixes with all my might.
Tonight was a good night. I raced my 5 Intermediates at Whittier Narrows BMX and took 1st place. I didn't move my head to look around. I looked at the lights and listed to bust outta the gate. I focused on the inside. And I peddled my rear end off. First Place Whoooohooooo!!!
