Volunteer Opportunities

Here are some volunteer opportunities at NOVA BMX. Keep in mind we are a volunteer based organization. Your help is appreciated. None of the tasks are difficult and we will provide guidance. Please see one of our members or send us a message if you are interested in helping.

RACE DAY

  • Track Maintenance – rake, sweep, fill holes as required, chalk the track
  • Race Day Preparation – setup lights, ram and box
  • Bike Safety Inspection
  • Practice Gate Starter – run the gate
  • Race Gate Starter – run the gate
  • Announcer – moto and announcer sheets are supplied
  • Concessions – sales
  • Registration – register racers, answer rider/parent questions, and print moto sheets.
  • Awards – distribute awards at the end of the race
  • Fundraiser – race day fundraising
  • Staging – make sure racers are in the correct moto and gate using moto sheets, as well as making them aware of the qualifier for each round
  • Scoring – score racers as they cross the finish line
  • Corners – three corners – watch racers for fouls and assist if accident

 

Practice

  • Registration – collect practice fees and answer rider/parent questions
  • Concessions – sales

 

COMMITTEES

  • Concessions – stock & clean
  • Awards – stock & prepare for races
  • Events – prepare for races
  • Sponsorship – always looking for sponsorship to donate money or goods
  • Promotions – visit businesses, schools, media companies, etc to promote the NOVA BMX track. Promotional flyers/posters provided

 

OCCASIONAL VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

  • There are track workdays conducted throughout the season to keep the track maintained as a whole
  • Carpentry Projects – special projects as directed by the Track Operator
  • Resurfacing Pavement
  • Facility Maintenance – any maintenance as required carpentry, electrical, mechanical and/or technical
  • Grass Cutting/Weed Control

Volunteers don't just do the work ~ they make it work.
