Race and practice update - Covid-19
The race season at Richfield Park BMX will hopefully return for the usual on track competition ASAP. But, like the rest of the country, our track is currently in a holding phase until the Covid-19 virus statistics begin to show a downward phase for those that are contracting the virus. We surely are as anxious as all our bmx families and racers to get on the track and get in some laps and feel the adrenaline rush racing provides. However, we are a part of the Genesee County Parks and Recreation department and are required to follow the guidelines of the State of Michigan Parks system. So, until we get a thumbs up from our Parks director, we have to wait to begin the racing season which was suppose to have begun on May 3rd.
As the Track Operator, I do keep in contact with our Parks director. In doing so, I hope I can convince him that we can do gate practice sessions and meet the social distancing criteria that helps prevent the spread of Covid-19. Some tracks outside of Michigan have began doing gate practice with strict guidelines. So, with that in mind, we will make an effort to see if we can at least have gate practice sessions until we are able to start racing.
I know that the restrictions are not easy to adhere to. But, I also know that our organization as a whole want our families and racers to get through this situation without having to deal with becoming ill. So, please be patient, and stay healthy. Although we can't race at this time, there is a new bike and walking path that leads to Richfield Park BMX. Take a moment and check it out if you live close to Richfield park bmx. It can become a great place to keep warmed up for racing once we get back on track.
