Friday March 13th was the first of 3 double point races celebrating the Grand Opening weekend for the Isanti Indoor Arena.  Attendance at the weekend races was great with 1,100 racers over the three days.  Most of whom came from MN, but some from as far away as CT and a few from Canada.  There were also strong contingents from the surrounding states present.  The 3,500 plus spectators were treated to the great racing action that Rum River BMX is known for.  The opening weekend was also a celebration recognizing the rich past of BMX racing in MN and in Isanti.  Past track operators were on hand and acknowledged for their efforts which cannot go unnoticed when looking at what has gone in to making this facility possible.  Many old school racers were on hand, some still racing, others catching up with old friends and sharing history with the next generation. There were displays and photo's from events of the past displayed in the BMX heritage area located in the new facility.

The new arena is a phenomenal facility that offers not only great racing and consistent track conditions but also a Strider practice track, modern registration, concessions with full kitchen, and excellent viewing for spectators.   For information on upcoming events go to www.rumriverbmx.com or visit the Rum River BMX Facebook page.
