2026 WORLD BMX CHAMPIONSHIPS – CHALLENGE CLASS
July 16th- July 25th - Brisbane Australia

USA BMX will be managing the Challenge Class logistics for the 2026 USA Team (including registration, entry fees, jersey orders, waivers, etc.)  Challenge riders will process those transactions with USA BMX and will purchase their UCI BMX International Rider License from USA Cycling.  Information will be posted here as it becomes available and the links will then become active.  Please check back often as information may be updated or changed.  For more information on registration contact the USA BMX staff at [email protected] or for USA Cycling membership information contact [email protected]

Qualification Events:

• 2026 Sunshine State National
• 2026 Lone Star National

On Friday of the national, UCI classes will be offered for riders attempting qualification.   

Event & Qualification Details

How to Qualify: The Top 8 riders in each age group (UCI Challenge class) at a qualifier will earn a spot to participate in the 2026 UCI World Championship for Team USA.

• Note: Qualification is specific to each bike. If you wish to race both 20" (Class) and 24" (Cruiser), you must qualify separately for each.

• Once a rider has qualified in a class, they may not race that class at a subsequent qualifier.

Race Day Details:

• The UCI Challenge classes (World Qualifier) will take place on the Friday of the national events listed above.

• On these specific Fridays, the World Qualifier classes will replace the traditional Open class.

• The qualifier will follow UCI rules, including total points and scrambled motos. No USA BMX points will be awarded for this class.

Rider Requirements:

• The race is only open to riders who are USA citizens and eligible to acquire a USA Cycling (USAC) License.

• Transponders are required for all participants in the qualifier.

2. Announcement of Discretionary Nominations by Petition: May 11th, 2026
3. Confirmation of participant registration: May 15th, 2026

3. Final announcement of the Team: May 20th, 2026

• January 20, 2026: Registration Opens for Sunshine National qualified Riders
• March 10, 2026: Registration Open for Lone Star National qualified riders

• May 1, 2026: Deadline for submission of discretionary nomination petitions
• May 11, 2026: Announcement of discretionary nominations
