About Derby City BMX

MISSION STATEMENT:  "To promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship, and loyalty cultivating strength of character and self-discipline within the sport of Bicycle Motocross.  Through the love of the sport, operate for charitable, scientific, educational and competitive purposes while fostering a welcoming environment for kids and adults of all ages and abilities." The primary purpose of Derby City BMX is to promote the sport of BMX (Bicycle Motocross) as part of a healthy, active lifestyle. 

DERBY CITY BMX is a bicycle motocross track sanctioned by USA BMX and operates in such a manner as to promote and execute policies and procedures set forth by them. Our Season runs April through October, weathering permitted. During the season, gate practice is held every Wednesday from 6-8pm. Please see our calendar for the complete race schedule. You must have a valid USA BMX license to ride the track during scheduled events. A license may be purchased at registration during any planned event. 

Derby City BMX will promote the sport of BMX by teaching good sportsmanship and respect, teaching bicycle safety, maintaining a safe and competitive track, and making BMX a family activity that involves riders, family, and friends in a well-organized program.

Volunteers are the driving force behind Derby City BMX. If you are interested in becoming a track volunteer, don't hesitate to get in touch with us. Volunteers are ALWAYS needed and appreciated!!

JOIN ANYTIME AT ANY RACE OR PRACTICE ALL YEAR LONG

REQUIRED GEAR & CLOTHING

     *Any BMX-type bike and size will do.  We recommend one with a 16" to 20" wheel diameter.

     *Bike MUST be free of reflectors/brackets, kickstand, front brakes, and pegs

     *Full Faced helmet (we have some loaner helmets, first come, first serve)

     *Long pants or shin/knee pads

     *Long Sleeve or elbow pads

     *Closed-toe shoes

TRACK RULES

     *ABSOLUTELY NO RIDING OR WALKING ON THE TRACK WHEN WET!!

     *NO STOPPING ON THE TRACK

     *NO CUTTING ACROSS THE TRACK

     *NO RIDING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION

     *NO RC VEHICLES

     *MUST PRESENT USA BMX LICENSE AT TIME OF REGISTRATION

Derby City BMX Association member voting happens at the end of every season.  Be sure to sign-up to vote if you've been to the track more than 10 times in the current season.
