On Saturday October 15th, along with the VA State Championship Race, HamptonBMX will be hosting the 10th Annual Eddie Townsend Memorial Pro-Am Race. Eddie Townsend was a loving husband to Kelli Townsend and an awesome father to Andrew and Thomas Townsend. He was involved in all aspects of his boy’s lives. So much so, he took on the role as Track Director of Hampton Supertrack. After 7 years of being Track Director, he lost his battle to Scleroderma. Kelli and the boys continued on with running the track and racing. Andrew, the oldest of the boys, is now a Professional BMX racer and father while Thomas is an accomplished expert level BMX Racer and is known in the trails and freestyle community as an up and coming rider.

Each year well known BMX Racers from all around the county have come to race the Eddie Townsend Memorial Pro-Am, including 2012 and 2016 BMX Olympian, Nicholas Long.

In an effort to continue this legacy, HamptonBMX is looking for Sponsorships to increase the Pro-AM purse to over $2,000. Any amount is appreciated. For any sponsorship of $300 or more, you will be represented on the Eddie Townsend Memorial Banner which will be on display at the event and at every race throughout the remainder of the 2016 season.
