On the last race of the year held at Richfield Park BMX, I was elected as Track Operator.  The return to the position as Track Operator may impede my ability to race on the National race circuit while I address various concerns at the local track.  Like many other loca track programs, rider count at Richfield Park BMX fell a long distance during the 2014 race season.  So, in an attempt to bring the rider base back to a point where the track can sustain itself without large donations from the surrounding area business community, we will begin the improvements by promoting the sport as best we can. 

On track improvements, most everyone on the State level knows we will be taking down the huge step up triple leading into the first turn.  The plan is to return the obstacle at that location to one which will allow all racers to tackle it as fast as possible without sustaining injuries.  It's likely to become a Step Table or a double.  The current mountain sized obstacle is nearly if not more than 40 feet long.  It will be downsized to be around 20 to 25 feet in length.

Other objectives in mind are to upgrade the pavement in front of the registration building from asphalt to cement and include the track name in the cement..  We will also be looking to paint several picnic tables and the portions of the bleachers/stands that are wood.  Through the winter months and down time paint stores in the area will be asked for donations so those who volunteer can do it cost free.
