Hard to believe a month has gone by. On Mat 13th I approached a starting gate for the first time at the Land O Lakes National... and since then I've had 7 national races, 2 local races, and 3 practice nights. Not bad for my first month of racing. I still am doing one-foot starts out of the gate, but I'm getting better no the balancing. I think the other night I managed to hold the bike up-right for about 20 seconds. No serious injuries yet. I have upgraded to the G6 Ballistic Jersey after scraping my elbow. My shin hurts from a hit last week where it got scraped up. Actually, the shin doesn't hurt, the scab hurts. I think there's a difference. i was wearing knee pads, but still got scraped up. So I'll re-evaluate the situation and maybe go to a better source of knee protection for that in the future. My first wreck was at a practice in Yukon for a state race that ended up getting rained out. It was a glorious wipe out and ended with Jason Carnes asking if I was okay. I guess when a legend like him checks to make sure you are okay, you always remember your first wipeout.

So now I've got Charlotte on the schedule for next weekend and then Vegas in a couple weeks. I may hit the Stars & Stripes in Pittsburgh if I get a little better... or I may hit the local tracks and take in some single points races. I need to get better at full gates and obviously need to get fasted. It would also help if I could balance in the gate, but that will come with practice. Also, I'll probably be sporting new jerseys moving forward, so look for some changes in the pictures.
