The state qualifier race in Steamboat Springs was my first race away from my home track (Grand Valley BMX). I was anxious to see how the day would progress. There was approximately a 2 hour delay as the track crew worked hard to dry the track from the heavy rain the night before. Once we were under way the racing was pretty exciting as trying to learn the best way to attack a different track and learning the fastest way around it is new to me. I had no other riders in my 12 intermediate class so I raced in the 13 intermediate class and ended up taking 4th in the main. All in all a pretty good day for all the new challenges I faced.
