This year, I've raced a couple cruiser class motos at my local Seatac bmx track and I have been doing pretty well getting better literally each and every time I head out of the gate.

Racing bmx is completely different than any mountain biking event I have ever competed in and to me.  Within 40-45 seconds you're scanning every every-so-changing line option as your competition edges you out in the corners or even cut across and block you right out of the gate.  Last Saturday, on 6/9/2018, I was literally riding on the edge of the track just to make passes and then make sharp corners to close any gaps.  It worked out, as I came in 3rd out of 6 riders.

I have always noticed the bmx riders translate their handling very confidently to the mountain bike.  Ironically, I grew up in that boat but having been on the mountain bike more so these days, the skills don't translate so well both mentally and physically except my saving grace is my observed trials background where balance is beyond crucial in riding.  So, I try to balance my time on the bmx and trials bike so I'm not always just riding for speed and distance on a mountain bike.

I always race on my GT bmx cruiser but I may one day acquire another GT bmx class bike and compete on both on the same day!  Who knows since I love many GTs but have very little space.
