John began his racing career in 1975. He rode for infamous Speedo of the mid-70’s, was sponsored by Patterson Racing from 1977 to 1980, and rode for Redline throughout the early 80’s. Known to be a flashy rider, he invented his own Signature Jump, the “Crews”, as it is still called today. John turned Pro in 1979 and won the Australian Open in 1980. He started up his own BMX company in 1983, called “Pit-Kit”, a tool bag designed with the BMX racer in mind. John retired from racing in 1985 and now runs his own chain of bike shops, “Bicycles Plus I and II” in Folsom, CA. John still shows up at the Nor-Cal BMX events to support his local BMX teams.
